The Nelly Invitational Presented By Chevron

Shauna Liu of Maple, Ontario, Canada, delivered a stunning final-round performance at The Nelly Invitational presented by Chevron, finishing with a tournament total of 1-under-par 215. Starting the final round nine shots off the lead, Liu mounted an incredible comeback to capture the title.

Liu opened the tournament with a 5-over-par 77, placing her T24. She bounced back in the second round with a 1-over-par 73, climbing to T10.

In the final round, Liu dominated the course with a 7-under-par 65, tying the lowest round of the tournament. Her round included eight consecutive birdies from Nos. 6 through 13, a tournament record, which sent her to a playoff. She then went on to birdie the first playoff hole by sinking a 17-foot putt to claim victory.

This marks Liu’s fourth career AJGA victory. Her first came at the 2024 Memorial Junior, followed by back-to-back wins at the CDW Girls Junior All-Star Championship. She capped off the 2024 season with a T5 finish at the Rolex Tournament of Champions.

Liu’s 2024 season earned her Rolex Junior All-American and Junior All-Star Team honors. She was one of 15 players from the class of 2028 to compete and will make her debut at the Mizuho Americas Open next week.


61st Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship

Team Canada NextGen member Shauna Liu has started the new year with a win, firing a four-day total of 8-under to win the 61st Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship at The Biltmore in Coral Gables, Fla.

Liu of Maple, Ont. fired rounds of 64-74-72-66-276 to win by six strokes over Alexa Takai of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Fellow Team Canada NextGen member, Eileen Park of Red Deer, Alta. finished T14 at 11-over. On the Boys side, Canadians Emile Lebrun (Montreal, Que.) finished T7, Eric Zhao (Toronto, Ont.) finished T11 and Spencer Shropshire (Ramara, Ont.) finished T27.


NXXT Women’s Championship

Miami, FL – March 21, 2025 – Rising Canadian amateur and Team Canada NextGen standout Shauna Liu delivered a commanding performance at the prestigious NXXT Women’s Championship held at LPGA International, March 18-20, 2025.

Competing against 72 elite golfers from around the globe, Liu secured her first professional-level victory, reinforcing the NXXT Tour’s ongoing theme for 2025: “The Rise of the New Champions.”

Liu’s stellar play across three rounds, marked by remarkable consistency, culminated in scores of 70, 70, and 72, for a tournament total of 4-under-par (212). This victory not only establishes Liu as the 9th first-time winner of the season but also earns her a coveted exemption into the Epson IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, scheduled for April 25-27 in Beaumont, California.

“Winning this championship against such an elite field means the world to me,” Liu said after her impressive victory. “I stayed patient and focused on my game plan. Earning the Epson Tour exemption is an incredible bonus, and I’m excited for the opportunity ahead.”

Adding to the event’s excitement, a dramatic sudden-death playoff determined the second-place finisher and the recipient of the second Epson Tour exemption. Maisie Filler from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, triumphed over standout competitor, former US Women’s Amateur Champion Jensen Castle from Daniel Island, South Carolina, after both players ended regulation play tied at even-par (216). Filler’s playoff victory secures her place alongside Liu at the Epson IOA Championship.

The tournament also marked the noteworthy professional debut of Skye Two Hawks (Evans, GA), who made an immediate impact with a T4 finish at 1-over-par (217). Additionally, Lauren Peter (New York) delivered another strong performance, also tying for fourth and underscoring her consistent presence near the top of leaderboards this season.

2024 Canadian Junior Girls Championship

Liu’s win comes with an exemption into the 2024 Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship taking place next week in Victoria, B.C.
The 15-year-old also received an exemption into the 2025 U.S. Girls Junior Championship.
After a bogey to start her opening nine, Liu bounced back by making a birdie on the par-5 second.
She then played a bogey-free back nine, rolling in back-to-back birdies to finish the week with scores of 70, 71, 74 and 71.
“It feels great,” Liu said in Golf Canada press release. “Winning this tournament is something I have always wanted and it’s really great to be here.
“My family and I will probably go out and get some ice cream after this one.”
Liu also won the juvenile division, which ran concurrently for girls aged 16 and under, ahead of Lin.
Liu joins a list of notable Canadian golfers to capture the tournament, including LPGA Tour player and Olympian Brooke Henderson (2012).
